By using this web site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the ORKS website. We may need to change these Terms of Use from time to time. We have a separate Privacy Policy which governs our use of your personal information.

The ORKS Website is for the creation of individual and recording group accounts in order to upload content. Content includes wildlife observations, photos, descriptions and locations and comments. ORKS can also be used to access and explore records uploaded.

By putting this information on the site, you are agreeing that:

  1. The content is yours, or you have the permission of the owner to agree to this usage

  2. The details submitted are accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  3. Any photographs uploaded are appropriate and that permission has been given by any subjects identifiable in the photo.

  4. All information submitted will be stored, managed and used securely by ERCCIS in accordance with their policies and procedures on data supply, data ownership, data management and data access

  5. ERCCIS may use information submitted on the site for conservation, education and other Local Environmental Record Centre activities

  6. Any records may be assigned to a relevant local expert for verification and that under certain circumstances records may also be assigned for validation.

  7. Records assigned to a local expert are available for viewing by them at any point in the future. Data may also be passed onto a relevant National Scheme and Society where relevant.

  8. Your contact details will be made available to the local expert to whom your records are assigned for verification, as he/she may need to contact you to confirm certain details of the record.

  9. You may view wildlife records submitted to this website by other users, but you may not store them, republish them, exploit them for commercial or academic research purposes, or pass them on to any third party.

  10. Your contact details will not be passed on to any third parties without your permission.

  11. If you submit a record of a species that could be vulnerable to disturbance or persecution if the record is made publicly available, the record will be flagged as ‘sensitive’ and will not be made publicly available.

  12. Accounts on ORKS are private and are managed by you. ERCCIS can help with any administrative enquiries but you have the right to change or delete your account at any time.
